Mines Advisory Group (MAG) has been working in Sri Lanka since 2002, locating and removing landmines and other unexploded ordinance, helping Sri Lanka to reach its goal of becoming mine-free. MAG conducts its operations in Mannar, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Trincomalee districts currently. Mine Action activities are coordinated by National Mine Action Centre (NMAC), which comes under purview of State Ministry of Rural Housing and Construction & Building Materials Industries Promotion. MAG Country Office is located in Colombo and the Central Operating Bases (COB) are in Vavuniya. MAG employs over 1000 staff members across the country.
The Communication Coordinator will report to the Country Director and working with other relevant teams (including the communication team at MAG HQ). He/she will formulate and implement an internal and external communications strategy for MAG Sri Lanka with a view to promote the work of MAG and raise awareness about MAG strategy in Sri Lanka.

Essential Experience
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience at the national level in providing communication products to promote humanitarian and development activities
• Professional experience in different media (newspapers, website, radio, television) or a similar position in private/cooperate business
• Demonstrable experience of designing communications products
• Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to elaborate and implement communications strategies
• Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and managing media campaigns, including well-written information about developmental issues, its objectives and activities
• Demonstrates excellent presentation skill
• Uses Information Technology effectively as a tool and resource
• Fluency in English

Desirable
• Experience working in a similar position, preferably in an International NGO setting.
• Knowledge of the Mine Action Sector
• Fluency both in Sinhala and Tamil
