About MAG:

MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. Our vision is a safe and secure future for men, women and children affected by armed violence and conflict.

About the Myanmar programme:

Following decades of armed conflict, Myanmar has one of the highest levels of landmine contamination in the world. We have worked there since 2013 and now have operations in four states. MAG’s role in Myanmar is to support the development of national mine action approaches and provide risk education to local communities and INGO’s living and working in contaminated areas.

About the role:

In this role you will undertake a wide range of activities including proposal writing, grant monitoring, report writing for donors and assisting the Country Director in ensuring the programme meets its contractual requirements. You will be based in Yangon, supporting the whole programme and will be expected to occasionally travel to operational areas if required. The role is initially fixed term for one year, but may be extended further dependant on funding. This is a part-time role for 22.5 hours per week, ideally over three days, though MAG is willing to consider some flexibility in the working pattern for the right candidate.

About you:

The successful candidate will need experience working overseas in international aid or development, ideally in Myanmar, and be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently. The ability to produce written material of the highest quality is essential. Ideally, the successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with external stakeholders and have experience writing reports and proposals for a range of institutional donors. In addition, you must be able to prioritise your workload to meet deadlines. You will also need to be able to demonstrate awareness of personal security, cultural sensitivities and a diplomatic manner.

How to apply:

For further information on the role, the application form and details of how to apply, please visit, the MAG website at www.maginternational.org/vacancies-at-MAG as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and the vacancy will be removed once filled.
